ARTIST STATEMENT
My work focuses on the social and cultural restrictions placed on women, and their ability to overcome them. It is important to me that each of my works is constructed with materials with inherent meaning. I often abandon conventional sculpture materials in lieu of found objects, or repurposed matter. I draw inspiration from the work of other feminist artists such as Mimi Smith, Shirin Neshat, Iris van Herpen, Zoe Buckman, and the literature of Linda Nochlin. My work is intended to wake the individual conscience of the viewer in order to produce social change that empowers and celebrates women.
